THE AQUEDUCT TOWER AND THE THREE FOUNTAINS PARK
THE AQUEDUCT TOWER AND THE HREE FOUNTAINS PARK
The history of this extraordinary place that supplies water to the entire territory began ninety years ago.
The tower, 36 meters high, is served by a ladder that runs alongside the pipe that carries drinking water and by a splendid external elliptical staircase.
Entering through the gate, one could admire a well-kept garden, surrounded by a tricolour hedge. To the right of the entrance, there is the enormous basin of the main fountain, which had very high jets; while on the promenade front there were two rows of fountains leading to the building of the freight elevator room, used to go down to the pump room.
At the end of the war, after the bombings of 1945, the few rooms of the aqueduct tower were used as temporary housing for the caretakers.
The redevelopment works of the Tre Fontane Park and the Aqueduct Tower are financed for one million euros by PNRR funds.
